There is something to this. I have days where I go to see clients and I pull out my old "work clothes" to wear. It actually feels good. Nothing fancy. Just looks like I got dressed "on purpose".

It has been a transition post covid to reclaim the parts of life that mattered, while letting go of the things that really don't work.

Covid did have a huge impact on so many aspects of our lives. I feel like I'm still adapting, even years later. Thank you for reading and commenting!

This is interesting. It's a question I've asked people over the years. I work from home. I dress for comfort. I don't think it affects my productivity in a negative way. I do put on "real clothes" when I leave the house, but I don't find that they make me feel any different. As soon as I get back home, I put on my comfy clothes. That's just me, and what you say does make some sense, but when I'm working at home, I like to be comfortable.

Hi Daria. I work from home as well. About 90% of the time. But now I have a 5pm cut off time for comfy clothes.

I run a lot of errands, so I keep my casual clothes on all day until I'm really done. It's a mental thing for some people, it is for me.

That being said, my casual clothes are comfy, so it helps.

Thank you for stopping by and for your comment!

Long before COVID, I was already dealing with long-term unemployment and disability. At first I was so depressed I only wear jeans and t-shirt, or sweats when my jeans finally got too dirty and I needed to do laundry.

One day I got dressed up to go out and I discovered: I LIKE THE WAY I FEEL when I take the effort to dress nice. When COVID arrived I had a leg up on everyone else, because I was already at home all the time... and already wearing nice clothes... all the way down to cowboy boots and a custom cowboy hat that I wore proudly throughout the day!

Last year, I started getting depressed again... sleeping late... staying home... wearing jeans (or sweats) and t-shirt... and I feel more overwhelmed and hopeless than ever.

Maybe I need to put that cowboy hat back on. It does make me feel more confident and outgoing...🤔

Thanks for sharing this!

And yes, it worked the first time, didn't it? It helped. Making the effort, even if it's just for a few hours can help. I truly believe that. It works for a lot of people.

Somehow getting ready can help us frame the day or part of the day a certain way.

Great post, Stéphanie! I guess it's time for me to slip out of my toga and put on some real clothes...
